Dr. Joel Crosby was born and raised right here in Nova Scotia. He graduated from St. Mary’s University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, then carried on to Dalhousie Dental School where he completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1999. He also completed the Master Clinician Program in Implant Dentistry diploma, through the gIDE Dental Institute in Los Angeles, California. He has a true passion for surgical procedures as well as cosmetic dentistry, and spends considerable time furthering his education in all areas of dentistry.
When he is not practicing dentistry, Dr. Crosby enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife and daughter. They spend summers on the lake, kayaking and paddle boarding, or enjoying a hike or some camping. He is an avid reader and has been known to mountain bike and snowboard.
Dr. Mathew Carmichael was born in Halifax and raised on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. He graduated from Dalhousie Dentistry in 2009 and has been providing all forms of general dentistry ever since. When Mathew is not practicing dentistry, you will find him with his wife and three children. As a family they enjoy swimming, beaching, boating, fishing, and generally being outdoors. Mathew practices at Complete Family Dentistry on Tuesdays and Fridays and looks forward to meeting, and serving, new patients.
Dr. Jakob Nickerson completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery at Dalhousie University in 2019, during which he was awarded the Dr. Sheridan Cyrus Award, recognizing exemplary practice management, patient care, communication, and leadership. Prior to attending dental school, Dr. Nickerson received his Bachelor of Science with Honours from Acadia University. Most recently, Dr. Nickerson completed a general practice residency at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto, where he gained additional experience with sedation, oncology, emergency dentistry, and working with medically complex patients.
In addition to practicing with Complete Family Dentistry, Dr. Nickerson teaches in the Faculty of Dentistry at Dalhousie University. When he is not practicing dentistry, he enjoys spending time outdoors, particularly on the South Shore where he was raised, and playing music with his partner Heather.

Sarah Hellingwerf is originally from Saint John, NB. She received her diploma in dental hygiene from Oulton College located in Moncton, NB in 2012. She is always looking for ways to expand her knowledge in the dental field.
When she is not at work you can find her at home with her two Corgi puppies (Loki and Luna), exploring our beautiful province, catching a live show of one of her favorite bands, and doing photography.
Alicia is originally from the South Shore of Nova Scotia. She received her Dental Hygiene diploma from the Canadian Institute of Health located in Ottawa Ontario in 2021. She loves her new career! When not working, she can be usually found with her Wife and dog hiking, on the water, travelling, camping or playing softball and hockey.
Carolyn Mason grew up in Bedford NS, and graduated from NSCC in 2013. Over the last 7 years she has gotten to experience and enjoy all aspects of dentistry including general, surgical, and cosmetic. she makes it a priority to ensure patients feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible to ensure a positive experience. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time close to the water, listening to music, painting, and creating art. She also is a huge animal lover and likes to spend time with her two kittens Taz, and Ozzy!
Lianne Pothier was born and raised in a small French community and is fully bilingual. She graduated from dental assisting in Saint John NB in 2014. She enjoys assisting both general and surgical dentistry and is always looking to expand and build on her skills. Outside of work she enjoys going to the gym, hiking with friends, and spending time with her cat Tiffy!
Nimia Marriaga was born and raise in Cartagena, Colombia. She moved to Canada in 2006, graduated from the NSCC Dental assisting program in 2013. Over the last 7 years she has gotten to experience different areas of dentistry including general, orthodontics, and oral surgery.
In her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with her beautiful family and friends.
is originally from Ontario. She has been calling Nova Scotia home for over ten years now. Dana had worked in the medical field for nearly 20 years as a trained assistant, before choosing to spend the last six years at home raising her daughter. A 2016 mission trip to Haiti, where she worked along side the dentist, set about her interest in dental assisting/patient care. This led her to enrol in, and complete the Registered Dental Assistant program at NSCC, here in Halifax.
When she is not at work, she enjoys spending time by the lake, gardening, and golf. She keeps busy training Ollie, a playful Newfoundland dog, who loves to cuddle. Her favourite times are with her wonderful husband, beautiful daughter, adult sons - and most recently an adorable granddaughter.
Mariah Ash grew up in Dartmouth NS. She graduated from the NSCC dental assisting in 2013 and has a background in paralegal. Mariah fell in love with the administrative side of the dental industry. When she is not working, she enjoys reading, going on hikes throughout our amazing province, and spending time with her bichon mix Lily!

Jennifer Crawford is an experienced dental office manager, having been in the industry for nearly a decade. Born and raised in Dartmouth, NS, she previously excelled within the local Aesthetics community. Jennifer is proud to continually develop and encourage a positive work environment for her entire team. When she is not at work, she enjoys binge watching all her favorite tv shows, spending time with her wonderful husband, 10-year-old son, and their rescue dog, Dixie!
